Bill White, president emeritus of the Intrepid reminds us to support our troops
New York, NY – Bill White, former president tends Intrepid hand remind us that supporting our troops is more important now than ever. With the holidays just around the corner, many of us celebrate surrounded by our families, friends and family. Meanwhile, we take a moment to remember and acknowledge the enormous sacrifices made by the brave members of the U.S. Services for keeping America safe country.
Tens of thousands of men and women in uniform will be the holidays away from their families, many put their lives on the line directly. This past year has been difficult for our members and their families.
To our troops in Afghanistan or Iraq, the parties will most likely be spent in a fortified camp or on patrol in the investigation and expected the worst. They do their work far from their spouses, children, parents and friends. It is not easy. Bill White retired after 20 years as president of the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum. Clyde Butcher said he uses a Canon Rebel XTi for the "fun", but using film when it gets serious. What is its significance?
Clyde Butcher uses his vision cameras for landscape work (if this is the same Clyde Butcher that I know.) There is simply no comparison between a DSLR (even better, more expensive professional-level digital SLR) and a large format camera. You could buy a digital back for camera of view (4X5 inches), but the cost is prohibitive. I do not think they are available in 8×10 "size. Furthermore, it is difficult to use one in some places where Clyde shoots her photos. Not sure if all large-format digital backs are tied to a computer as their production is so great that the back can not be stored. But 8X10 negative film, shot in a view camera with swings and tilts, is the ultimate in picture quality and control. In search of locations, for testing the composition of the image /, for tests of the exhibition, a digital camera can be a valuable time accessory to shoot with a camera format overview.
