What memory is compatible with my MacBook Pro?
I just purchased a MacBook Pro 15” 2.16 GHz Core 2 Duo laptop. I wanted to upgrade my RAM because as of right now I only have 1 GB and was wondering if anybody had credible sources or first-hand experience with the compatibility of different memory types (ie: Kingston, Corsair, Patriot, etc…) installed into their laptop.
Specifically, I am leaning towards buying a 1GB Kingston PC2-5300 because of their competitive prices, but have not heard enough about this memory and macbook’s together to be sold, yet.

I don’t have a MBP and I haven’t upgraded my Macs RAM but I’ve read from various Mac users that any RAM that is specifically made for your model Mac will work, be they Kingston (not their cheaper brand), Crucial, Samsung, OWC etc. Just be sure the vender your buying from will replace the RAM for free if for some reason they don’t work properly, and some RAM don’t even though they are made by reputable manufacturers. Also, having lifetime warranty on them wouldn’t hurt.
